How do you choose your carers?
We are always looking for enthusiastic and experienced carers who have the right attitude and who love to care for others. We pride ourselves on choosing the best people and we are rigorous in our recruitment process. All our carers undergo a police check and must provide professional references.
What training do you provide your carers?
When a new staff member joins the team at County Care we provide a thorough induction and they spend time working with a senior carer. In addition we ensure all carers complete the following training: Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Moving and Handling, Dementia awareness, COSHH, RIDDOR, Food hygiene, Fire Safety, Medication awareness, Equality awareness, First Aid, Infection control, Health and safety. We continually assess our staff’s training needs and provide courses as required.
What services do you provide?
At County Care we provide care from a minimum of 1 hour a week to full time live in care. County Care also offer care during the night if needed.
Services include personal care, companionship calls, preparation of meals, medication, respite care, shopping, light domestic duties and socialisation and appointments.
We are also able to offer more specialist services providing complex care packages to those who have dementia, palliative/end of life care, hospital to home care, or for those with serious medical conditions for example parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis. Our goal at County Care is to support you to live your life to the full and to remain as independent as you can.
Will I have the same carer each visit?
At County Care we recognise how important it is to build a relationship with your carer. Although you will have a key carers, we will allocate a small team of carers to you to ensure during periods of sickness and annual leave you are visited by someone you know.
Can I change or discontinue the service?
We recognise that circumstances change over time and so we will regularly review your support plan with you and your family to ensure your needs continue to be met. If you decide you no longer wish to have care at home, we ask you to give us a weeks’ notice.
How much will it cost?

Do I need to pay for care myself?
If you have more than £23,250 in savings or capital, you will need to pay the full cost of care. The value of your home is not counted when working out charges for home care.
If you think you may be eligible for an allowance, the Adult Social Care team will complete a comprehensive financial assessment. The financial assessment looks at how much money you have coming in, if eligible, it gives an allowance (set by the Government) for everyday living expenses and makes an allowance for disability-related expenditure. Disability- related expenditure is the extra amount you spend as a result of your disability or illness. They will also carry out a full benefit check and, if you want them to, assist you with claiming anything you may be entitled to. Most people on a very low income do not have to pay for care at home.
How do I pay County Care?
If you are a private customer (not receiving financial support from the Local Authority) you will receive an invoice once a week which you can pay by sending the office a cheque or complete a bank transfer. If the Social Care Team is paying for your home care, invoices will be sent to the Social Care Team.
